Frequently Asked Questions
What is the main difference between New LIR Setup and Managed LIR?
New LIR Setup is a one-time onboarding service that handles corporate verification, contract execution, and direct resource allocations (IPv6, ASN, IPv4 waitlist) to establish your registry status. Managed LIR is an ongoing retainer service where our engineers act as your outsourced registry administrator, handling daily database changes, RPKI, transfers, and official RIPE audits.
What default allocations are included when opening a new LIR?
Upon approval of your LIR account, you are entitled to request an initial allocation of a /29 IPv6 prefix (expandable based on documented network plans), an independent 16/32-bit ASN, and placement on the official RIPE IPv4 waiting list for a /24 allocation.
Can existing LIRs transfer their administrative workload to your Managed Service?
Yes. We regularly onboard established LIRs that want to eliminate internal overhead. We perform an initial registry health check, clean up orphaned database objects, audit your RPKI ROAs, and take over all ongoing communication with the RIPE NCC.
How are RIPE NCC annual membership fees handled?
The annual registry fee is billed directly by RIPE NCC to your entity per active LIR account. Our management service fees cover the operational, engineering, and compliance management required to run and protect your registry account.
What assistance do you provide during official RIPE NCC audits?
During routine or ad-hoc RIPE registry audits, we assemble the required corporate documentation, prove resource utilization compliance, prepare assignment documentation, and liaise directly with the auditor to ensure seamless pass-through without penalties.
